Why yes T5, I was talking about you. I don't know s**t about nitrous, but the hypereutectic pistons in the 5.0 mustang started in '93. Earlier had forged. If you're talking about the ford racing 347, again hypereutectic pistons w/valve reliefs, and also a cast crank.

i had 200 shot on stock ford 302 with forged pistons, and a b303 ( i think it was "B") been a long time ago, i cant remember for sure, , , , just remember to retard the timing 2 degrees for every 50 hp oh nitrous or if you have good ignition (msd, accell, holley) you can go 1 degree for every 50 hp of nitrous.</P>

No its not forged pistons. I wish it was. I'm not sure what year blocks they use for the Ford Racing Gt40 long block. But they are hyperutectic pistons I think it. cause it says 9.0:1 compression and if i remember correctly that is using the hyperutectic pistons. I will change all that out after I either blow the motor or after a long time of driving. I was only curious of what it could handle and if it was a good idea to run nitrous or not. thanks for the helpthough. And does anyone have any idea why ford racing would tell me to advance the cam 4 degrees ? They said before I fire it be sure to advance it 4 degrees. I wonder why ?

Hey t5, the cam, with the comination of timing gears they used, if installed straight up, may already be 4* retarded. I can't think of any other reason, as 4* is a lot of advance. Low end would be fantastic, but I would think that the high rpm range would get killed. From what I've heard, most cam grinders would tell you to buy another cam if it has to be advanced 4*. <edited><editID>makarovboy</editID><editDate>37892.8991666667</editDate></edited>

Hmm. . ya my machanic really wonderd why they wanted theb-303 cam advanced 4 degrees for even more performance. Mabye that it what they did to get 370 horsepower @6000 rpm and 358 lb-ft @ 4100

Yep, could be it's just for that particular build, but I would ask them why just to be on the safe side.

well the best way that i have heard is to take your total hp and what ever half of that is a safe shot . so if you hav 400 horse power you are safe with a 200 shot of juice. or thats what i have heard from the techs at power house
