To change my catalytic converter or not to change...?
Hey everyone...new member here...first post. I'm thinking about changing my catalytic converter on my 2002 mustang V6. Currently I already have a K&M high flow air intake and flowmaster exhaust installed. I've already bought a catalytic converter to use as a replacement....a straight through, Fat Catz one. I'm told that using it could screw up my car though...and wouldn't give me any horsepower gains anyways. It's also not carb legal in CA.....although I'm not sure if I'll need to get my car smogged in the future, since I just bought it used about a year ago and it's already been tested. I'm thinking that I'll get better flow through(and better horsepower) and better utilitze my intake and exhaust as well as get a better sound to my car. Any advice? Much appreciated....thanks

cats create a lot of restriction so you will definitly see some power, dont know exactly how much, but it will also change your sound a bit... i just have a catted xpipe on my car, with stock mufflers and people tell me all the time that my car sounds beefy or very loud, and stuff, so there is a sound difference also, it sounds like your car is actually "doing more" rather than just haveing a muffler like some ricers... i got like around 10 HP out of the xpipe and cats, so that is something you can compare it with, oh, and i have a 98GT not a v6...
