I just love the whine of a supercharger. I heard one the other day on Gratiot (Detroit cruise street) It was really loud. You knew It was a supercharger a mile away. I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy so, I thought I'd throw it out to you guys. What supercharger makes the loudest and/or best whine???

From my experience with working with them, the loudest one i've heard is a roots for a friends car I modified a little. They're pretty loud stock, but i'd say most twin screws are louder. The sound slits on the sides of the outlet were designed to quiet it down, welding them shut makes it a lot louder at wot than with them open. One tech at eaton told me that it would reduce power welding them shut, but so far on dyno comparisons welding the slits shut alone gives 4-11hp (depeding on model & gen)

I don't weld them shut myself, I have a local shop do it. I don't really trust myself enough to do that. Heat it up too much when welding & you could warp the case (the aluminum on stock ones is pretty weak).

I have the vortech v2 sq which is pretty quiet, I wish it was a little louder

I've run my M112 (ported) with the silencer ports welded up. I love that sound. It just screams when you get into it, but at idle is fairly calm.

Same with the ones I worked on, they were fairly quiet at idle/cruise, but at wot they were pretty loud.

My YSi is as loud as I could stand. It changes tone from idle to cruise, then WOT. All 3 are completly different. I wish I had a Vidio of it WOT.

ported eatons are just as loud as the KBs

Comparing my friends ported roots to a 2.8kb, the roots has a noticably louder whine than the kb. Side by side you can't hear the kb too well.
