CAI vs. Filter

CAI vs. Filter
Hey everyone, I'm a college student on a really tight budget (but i still can't help but want to make the 'stang faster)so i was wondering if I just remove the air silencer and buy a K&N filter, how much less hp would I make than if I just went out andgot a JLT CAI? Wouldthe differencebe noticeable?

RE: CAI vs. Filter
The JLT will prolly make alittle more hp, but if you want most bang for buck get the JLT and a tune. I don't think your year mustang has as big of a change as the newer ones, but it will be a little throatier and you might feel a little more power.

Go with the CAI for sure.
Underdrive pulleys and a tune would be step 2.
even with a tight budget the BBK or JLT are both doable for under $200.00.
And BBK is around 15-18 dyno HP.

From my experience, having done both, you might as well just do the K&N with silencer removed. For the extra money, its not worth it. I mean, every little bit of power helps but for $40 compared to $200 without tune.... It's your call.

RE: CAI vs. Filter
Im still in college and feel your pain. I was running a K&N without the silencer, and I just installed a JLT ram intake. The JLT sounds throatier and there is only a slight difference in performance from just the K&N (its almost negligable). If your interested in doing the K&N route pm me, i no longer have a use for the filter, ill let it go for a good price.
