Header Question For U Guyz n' Galz...
Just bought an 02 GT 5 spd... I want headers... Which ones you like?
1. Stainless Steel Ford Racing Shorty Headers
2. Ceramic Coated BBK Shorty Headers
I'm thinkin' the Fords, I figure Ill have less of a problem putting them on, and my car is going to be a street pounder, not a dragster.
I dunno, what do you think?

Ceramic coating is a must for a street car, youll regret it if you dont. My buddy bought a set without the coating and has already burned up several gaskets and bushings including his steering shaft (loose wheel now). Ive also had some people tell me their paint on their hood was ruined because of the stainless steel sets (I'm sure thats an extreme situation). They get very very hot, the coating keeps the heat in the header where it belongs. You will also see minor power gains with the coating for that same reason. The BBK IMO is a better set anyhow. You shouldnt have any problems installing either set of shorties.

Screw the shorties. I just got BBK l/t headers (ceramic coated) and they kick ***. They sound so friggin' mean. I watched them get put on and if you know how to do it, it's not that bad.

Can someone please explain to me the difference between short/long tube headers?? got a 05 on the way to sweden and wanna start with the exhaust and headers then work my way to the rest of the engine....

Long tubes give much better sound and performance gains. They look like this: http://modularpowerhouse.com/product...7de8e8c1a444e1 They are also more difficult to install and won't bolt up to a standard midpipe.
Shorties look like this: http://www.partshopper.com/fordmusta...A-1625S-1.html Despite what the ad claims, they aren't all that much better than the stock exhaust manifold (performance wise). Much easier to install though and will bolt up to a standard midpipe.

Everyone says shorties provide minimal to no gains yet nobody has a dyno graph to prove it.
Just compare stock manifolds to shorties, the difference is huge, just take a look at the collector. Of course LT's are far better, but not in everyones budget.
I'd go with the FRPP headers. I had them and I ran 13.8@104 with headers, x-pipe, Magnapacks & MAF.

I have the Frpp shorties, and i love them. I have never had a problem with them overheating. For the money, definately go with them. I still wish i would have saved up alot more and got the lt's( mostly for the sound), but i just didnt have the money at the time.
