Default MAC Shorty Equal Length Headers ??

A buddy had given me a set of 1979 - 1993 Mustang 5.0 Mac 1 5/8 equal shorty headers - Chrome for free. I've looked them up online and it says they are the best "direct replacement". I took a look at the stock headers and it looks as if the ends are somewhat crimped where it bolts up to the block. Seems like it would be blocking airflow? Not to sure if I would see any performance gain if I were to bolt on these MAC headers. Basically I'm wondering if I should stay with my stock headers or go with these MAC headers. If I were to switch to these mac headers how much power would I expect to gain and would my car sound any different compared to stock headers?? (Already running flowmaster from the headers back with an E cam) If you guys need pictures I can post later after work, thanks again for the help =)
