Default Need Turbo Advice for setup!

Hello,
I'm new to the turbo world and i just purchased a 1990 mustang notchback. It has no rust or serious problems and i want to make it the best sleeper with my budget. I would love to make at least 600rwhp. I dont have a lot of money which is why i would like to know what i can do to make my turbo mustang not only powerful but also reliable at a budget cost.

Currently There's a Cobra intake manifold (actual) and a cold air intake on it.

What I'm wanting to know is can i please have info on how to make that type or close to that amount of power without blowing apart the block or having to do anything to the block.

What heads, cams, turbo, wastegates, bov's, fuel delivery systems, turbo kits?, pretty much help me make a turbo mustang as cheap as possible but still have quality parts and making as close to 600rwhp.

As one guys sig on here says.....
Fast, cheap, and reliable and you can only have 2... Pretty much your case here.

For a cheaper good quality turbo kit you can do the on3performance kit then get the fuel, maf, and sct chip upgrades. Lookin at $3000 give take then if someone has to install it then probably another $1000 or so then to get someone to tune it. At that point depending on psi levels you can make 380-450whp on a all stock motor.

Then you have to worry about clutch stock trans, stock posi and axles, and the stock head gaskets ect. ect. If you are dead set on 600whp reliably not breaking other stuff then whip out the credit card buy some TFT heads a good boost cam aftermarket block good rotating assembly good trans clutch and rear end parts. Hope that might help

where to start.........1. it ain't gonna be cheap and if it is it won't be reliable so get the wal-mart mentality out of your head. 2. to make 600 rwhp and not scatter the block in two pieces in short order, dart block!! that in itself isn't cheap, by the time you're done you'll have clost to 4500 in a short block alone......see where this is going???

I know it wont be cheap as in like $1000. But im asking is to get big power for the cheapest yet reliable cost. I did quite a bit of research on turbos and turbo kits but everytime you go to a site it says this product is better than all the rest on every site so i want personal experiences of getting big power with not too much money.

I looked into On3 Performance turbo kits but are they reliable? I saw prices for a 67mm Precision turbo that cost the same as the whole kit cost...

Also if i wanted a car that can withstand up to 1000hp what type of motor should i get (ie. 347, 331, 351, 330, 408). Which block would be the best and what kind of internals would you put into that engine?

the motor i just dropped in my car yesterday should make 1000hp but will probably stop after 800rwhp. the turbos should be done by then.

anyways, the motor alone has about $11k in it if you count machine costs
stay the f#ck away from on3 turbo kits. plan on spending $3k+ for the turbo kit
for 600rwhp add:
$1000 maf, injectors and pump
$2k+ for tranny
autos are best for a turbo so plan on $1000 for a good converter
$1000+ on the rear end
$600+ for a dyno tune
and if you want 1000hp, double the price of everything but the motor

of course im leaving out a lot:
radiator and fans
upgraded tranny cooler
entire ignition system
roll cage if you plan to go to the track
$ thousands for suspension
$800+ for two rear wheels and two et street tires
upgrade the brake system
gauges: boost controller, water temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, wide band o2, egt is nice to have, etc

the little things will nickel and dime you to death

in other words, set aside $20k before you start your build

just for some motivation, here is the pic i took of my stang just a couple hours ago

drop your goal to about 500rwhp and you can run your stock motor......youll still need the other stuff to do it right

Ok thanks for the help. I figured On3 was too good to be true.

But what turbo kit is good?

I know that precision turbos, turbonetics, and garrett turbos are some of the best but do they sell a kit with it? And which turbo kit would i be going with to make around 500hp but still have enough in the turbo that i can upgrade later.
