Default Exhaust on a 2014 GT

Just had two questions regarding some basic mods.

1. I'm in the military so I tend to move alot, and lots of places with different laws. Looking at an exhaust but dont want to spend an entire life savings. All I'm looking for is something legal, with a nice deep roar and some sound to it at idle, and when I get on it. I was told the Roush Axle back exhaust would be good, which also falls along with what I 'm looking to spend, Thoughts?

2. On my air filter housing it says "cold air intake". I have always seen a cold air intake to where the filter element is exposed for all to see, I had one on a GTI and that is what made it have the throaty sound when I revved the motor. Is there a difference between this type and the open filter? If i get the open filter type am I just wasting my money?

Thanks for any input

Welcome to the forums.

Any Axleback will be legal in all states. It's when you start dinkin with the exhaust manifolds and cats that you run into problems sometimes.

Ford has installed Cold Air intakes on all mustangs from 2010 on. A CAI does not have to have an open-air element. For Ford, they simply pulled air from the fender well.

To be honest, I don't know how companies can get away with calling an open element air intake that opens into the engine compartment as a CAI. You're sucking in hot air from the engine compartment, but whatever. The only one I would remotely consider a CAI and is open element is the FRPP Bullitt one for the 05-09 mustangs because it takes air in from the leading edge of the hood and has a seal to try and keep the engine compartment separate.

newer stangs like yours a simpler tuner with some tunes from like AM, Steeda, Lund etc. is all you need to get more power from your stock motor. you'll also need that tuner for any other engine performance mods you do and for gears.

I'd recommend SLP Loudmouths for exhaust. These are MUFFLER DELETE style exhausts and will increase the loudness for sure.

CJponyparts.com (my fav) has them cheapest:

Don't order from AmericanMuscle.com - unless you want a random surprise exhaust system showing up, LOL

You post an awful lot of negative about AM. How many orders have you had screwed up, and how many orders have you had that went as they should?

I'm looking to make a lot of purchases soon and I'd like some solid experiences instead of you just throwing a temper tantrum on every thread.

I'm not the only one that stands against AM - just one of the more vocal expressers here.

I started ordering from AM a few years ago because they do have an easy site to navigate and plenty of parts. However, I quickly realized the Customer Service is what they lack the most. It's not enough that they fouled EVERY order for me AGAIN and AGAIN - but they had no interest in fixing the situation or even finding a solution so that it never happens again. Many times, I received parts that did not work and even when I sent them back for an exchange - I would receive another NON-WORKING part.

Fact: AM has more BBB complaints than CJponyparts, LateModelRestoration and Stage3motorsports COMBINED.

they make their own parts too (Raxiom, Pypes, etc) and it really shocked me to know they use phrases like "Industry Leading blah blah blah" - kind of sad when you have to label your own products under another name and refer to them as industry leading....

I can't guarantee that your order wont get screwed up - because some people are very happy with AM.

However, I'll never order from them and always recommend CJponyparts.com and LateModelRestoration - why? because they have never give an arsehole like me a reason to not order. Always on time and always shipped correctly. There is a night and day difference when ordering from other vendors. AmericanMuscle is a joke.

PS: I think I missed that you are in the Military in your initial post. Thanks for your service man.

It sounds like you've just had a bunch of crappy experiences with us. This is not the way we like to do business. I would be upset about one of your orders being damaged, though along all of them! This is unacceptable and I will 100% make sure this is taken care of, quickly.

I'm going to look through your past orders and see what's going on here. Whether the items were defective, damaged in shipping etc.. and why you weren't taken care of in the first place. I will get to the bottom of this for you.

With volume will come mistakes. I assure you that what you experienced is not "the norm" and you can expect much more from us. We've built our business on Customer Service and have always went the extra mile to make sure every single customer is taken care of and satisfied with their orders. Unfortunately, it sounds like we've lost you as a customer. I'm not okay with this and would really like to do whatever we have to do to change your opinion on us.

Just to be clear on Raxiom. Raxiom makes a great quality product. We work very closely with them to manufacturer and design some of the most exciting lighting products out there. Headlights, Gen5 Taillights, Interior lighting, Navigation Systems and much more! As far as lighting goes, they're definitely an industry leader and I think you'd be really impressed with their products.

I see you mentioned Pypes as well. AmericanMuscle doesn't manufacturer Pypes exhaust. Hope this clears that up!

I look forward to speaking with you. I wanted to apologize for any stress this may have caused you as well. We want nothing more than to get you your order quickly and in perfect condition!

After looking through these it seems that a few of the customers have been taken care of and the rest of them are from 2007-2008. This is very old and if I could go back into those threads and make sure the customers were straightened out I would!
