Sid, the Lunati supercharger is marketed by Autoplicity. I have used Lunati camshafts in full competition engines and they are hairy, but make a lot of power. That being said, as far as supercharging goes, I would stay with a more traditional/recognized system ie. Edelbrock, Ford, Roush.

well its either that, a turbo or I use a nito kit. im looking for somthing cost effective I already have a set of keith black pistons and I will be getting the mahle rods next for the rebuild. I was just wondering if the supercharger is worth it for a strip car I wanna run 10s

sidsthekid676, I am biased towards Nitrous. All my full competition cars are using healthy doses of nitrous. I am working with a team that has turboed a Dart 363 making 1010 hp on the dyno. It makes great steam also. I am sponsored so money doesn't matter. I have been using Nitrous since the mid 80s, and never looked back. Yes, Nitrous is very unforgiving and you MUST research everything about it before going out to play. Superchargers are also a great option. All three of these systems have their plus and minus. But what caught my attention was that you mentioned "cost effective", "for a strip car". Dollar for dollar you can't beat Nitrous. I will spend $1500.00 for a complete Nitrous kit making the same power as a $6000.00 supercharger, or, $ 4500.00 turbo system. The important thing here, besides the cost, is that you feel comfortable with the system you choose.

Sid, Nitrous is no more dangerous than any other form of aspiration. All aspiration does is increase compression. If you get crazy with any asperation, you will grenade your bottom/lower end. You will be safe starting out with the "manufacturer's" recommendation of nitrous and fuel combinations for making different levels of power. Study the habits of nitrous, and you will be safe. I have built all kinds of engine configurations, Big and Small block, and have never lost a engine. I reachersed for three months before installing my first nitrous system back in the eighties. For your 4.6l, I would purchase a 150 HP nitrous system and start out with a 75 HP hit of juice, just to get familiar with the torque increase. Progress in 50 HP increments. If the 4.6l has a stock bottom end, I wouldn't hit it with more than a 150 dose of juice. I have used up to a 300 HP hit of juice on small block Ford strokers and Chevy 383 strokers. But remember, the engines had complete $3000.00 "Lunati" lower ends, ie. balanced rotating assemblies. As far as sponsering goes, I had set a few "Class Track" records at my local track and was recognized by a local speed shop that started sponsoring me. The rest is history. Obtaining that first sponsorship is crucial to future sponsorships. Also, don't be afraid to approach people/businesses with a good portfolio. Best of wishes.
