Automatic v6 2000 splitting exhaust and adding second flowmaster
I broke my knee so I can't work on my car as much as I normally do. Noticed I was leaking tranny fluid so I had to stop by a shop and have them replace tranny pan gasket and filter. Well, the owner specializes in exhaust. I've been wanting to do this for awhile to try to get it to sound better. I don't want to delete my cats because I don't want a check engine light or hard time passing smog. I'm running stock exhaust manifold but want to cut the Y out so bothers manifolds run to their own mufflers on both sides. The guy Sid if I wanted it to sound really nice, just dump the exhaust a little past the muffler under the car on to the ground. IDK if this is a good idea or not. Also, seperatise my exhaust into two running it into their own flowmaster, am I going to get a more aggressive tone? What about horsepower, fuel milage and all that stuff? I really don't know what advantages or disavantages I'm looking at. I don't race so I'm not worried about major horsepower gains. I want it to sound nice and don't have money to upgrade the entire exhaust system. Thanks

No, do not dump your exhaust under the car for daily driving, that just invites exhaust fumes up into the passenger compartment which is not healthy at all and can actually be dangerous (Carbon monoxide causes drowsiness).
If you want a dual system get one of these or have a system fabricated.

Retains the factory cats and tucks in under the rear bumper just like stock but with two exhaust tips. So you don't look like a dweeb with straight pips sticking out below the bumper.
