Factory axle mis-alignment?

RE: Factory axle mis-alignment?
There's a lot of things it could be.
Gears, carrier or pinion bearings, the driveshaft itself (perhaps a balancing weight came loose), etc...
If your pinion seal is coming out, I would seriously check the pinion nut, flange, and bearings.
There are no toe /caster adjustments on the rear axle. It's a solid bar, those adjustment's aren't possible.
There's centering (side-to-side), which is done with the adjustable panhard bar. And there's also the pinion angle adjustment, and that's it.

RE: Factory axle mis-alignment?
So shimming the pinion gear, and panhard are the only adjustments for the rear?? That's a good thing at least for right now..
What about the bushings on the diff, that connect to the UCAs?? They are old, and I didn't get poly-bushings to replace them..
I've come to the conclusion that it's more than likely a pinion issue since I've received a few messages since I posted this. I'm not completely settled w/ that yet, but all the signs seem to point to a gear issue..
Although, I will say, I did my alignment today, and the car has never felt so firm or straight...
Looks like I'll be getting the 4.10's sooner than I hoped.. Too bad, most of the "bonus cash," is gone..
Thanks for the help!!

I got an Edlebrock adjustale panhard bar around the same time I lowered the car with the Roush(stage3)suspension kit.No problems but it has required one readjustment a few days afterward.

RE: Factory axle mis-alignment?
Gotcha.. I probably should have gone the extra step and got the panhard-bar... From looking at the pictures, does it mount to the LCA's, and then bolt to the top of the Diff?? And the part that part that mounts to the diff, that's what controls lateral movement right??

I hope this question insn't too dumb but do you adjust the panhard bar on the ground of in the air? I didn't get any instructions with the steeda adjustable panhard bar. My rear end has shifted to the drivers side pretty good.

I do the panhard bar adjustment with the car in the air, but the suspension loaded.
Support the rear of the car with jackstands located under the rear axle tube. That way the full weight of the car is on the suspension. Then make your adjustment, you will be able to see it exactly as it will be with the car on the ground.
For GodAmGt:
There are exactly Four bushings that touch the rear axle. Two of them are in the LCAs. One is in the end of the Panhard Bar, and the final one is located on the top of the diff housing itself.
The first 3 will be changed out for poly if you upgrade the associated parts. The last one, in the diff housing, can be replaced with aftermarket as well, though it is it's own part, not part of the UCA for example. To replace it you have to burn out the original bushing, which is a messy and potentially dangerous job.
