Default Buy a torque wrench!

This is what happens when you dont...

Kinda pissed me off when this happened a week or so ago. I just realized today that I could send cell phone pix to my computer. Bought a wrench today. ($14.95)

FYI- cost $50 bucks to replace stud. (Ford wanted to charge me $140.00) "uhh, we gotta take that rotor off and ah, blah, blah" jerks

Why didnt you just go tothe parts store and pay the 3 dollars for a new stud and install it yourself?

Ford did not have the stud in for a few days so I had to wait on it to arrive. I only replace my parts with Ford parts.

I watched the guy do it but will do it myself next time.

Yeah its in the hand book. I had to look in it for the guy to see what to set the wrench at. Sure enough its right there under tires. Good info for those like me who dont know it all!

Ford has a had a big problem with people over tightening the lugs nuts on vehicle since about 1997. Actually had a recall on the 97-99 trucks for the lug nuts themselves comoing loose. So then people started tighteoing the hell out of them and starteed breaking them off just like that.

Torque Spec for the 05-07 is 100Ft. Lbs. And you should always use a torque wrench on the luig nuts and alwasy go in a criss cross pattern. Overtightening of them lug nuts can cause many issue including warped rotors.

you simply bang out the old stud and use a lug nut to seat the new one.

And ford doesn't make the studs or the nuts i'm sure.

I had my Marauder into my local Ford dealership a few weeks back getting my Eibach Pro Kit springs put on. When I got the car back home I jacked it up to take a look and found that they had put the lug nuts on so tight that I could not get them off even with the air gun on my compressor. I had to use a break bar and practically stand on it. [:@]

My advice: not only should you use a torque wrench to put your lug nuts on, but any time you have the car serviced where they'll be taking a wheel off be sure to loosen the nuts and torque them back down yourself.

My dealer tightened mine so hard, that i had to do the same thing. It took all of my strength to get it off. I wasn't pleased. And come to find out that they stripped one of the lug nuts, so now I have to figure out how to get that off. [:@]

Places like Discount Tire etc. all use torque wrenches that I have seen. Your suppose to check torque after 100 miles also.
