Default lowering 2" with 285mm tires???

Hello,
I was planning on lowering the rear of my vert by 2" and installing 285/40 18 rear tires on 18 x 10 wheels. The overall tire diameter will be 0.2" less than stock. Does anyone believe this will result in rubbing or other problems?

Also, does it matter if the tires/wheels are installed after the lowering process? I have to wait many more weeks before I actuall get the wheels

Thx

Elliot

Are you lowering the front? If not you will have about an inch less wheel well gap, assuming the verts have identical gap difference between the front and rear. I doubt you'll have any rubbing issues, but you'll be sitting on the bumpstops for sure. My 1.5 inch ford racing springs put the bumpstops 1/2 inch from the frame. I ended up cutting the top off the bumpstops for more clearance. You can lower the car now and get tires later. I'd actually recommend it since every drop is different. That way you can measure just how much clearance you have.

Actually, I've been looking now into Nitto 305/35 18 in the rear and lowering if possible.

But to answer your initial question, I would be lowering the front as appropriate. I just didn't mention this as I will not be going above 255 in the front and I am not concerned about rubbing there.
