Default Winter tires for the northern guys/girls

I was just wondering what setup for winter tires people in Canada or northern states use on their GT's. I don't mean to put a downer on the remaining summer weeks but I am just wondering what I should expect.

Do17' steel wheels should clear the brakes?? Any info would be great.

Put the money you want to spend on winter wheels/tires towards a beater and garage the Stang.

I bought a set of take-off 17" Bullitt rims and tires, and pulled off the stock Pirelli's. On the Bullitts, I had a set of Pirelli Sotto winter tires mounted. When the weather gets cold, I'll swap over again to the winter tires/rims. The Sotto's work very well in the snow and rain, and treadwear was good.
