Default Traction on the street

Question,

Does anyone actually get traction on the street? I have all of the traction mods and still cannot get traction. I only have bolt-ons. I could not imagine how bad it would be with a blower!!

No, I have to take off pretty easy otherwise I will just sit there and spin them. I need to get my suspension mods on which really shouldn't help much with traction from a dead stop but overall handling. I plan on getting a set of nitto drag radials for the back.

I get plenty of traction with M&H 275/50/17 drag radials, but they aren't going to last more than 3k miles on the street i'm afraid. I have to be turning while shifting into 2nd at WOT to break them loose. Of course i'm not really reving the engine from a stop, just taking off at idle. With street tires I can't use WOT in 1st gear at all, at any speed. All this was with the 8psi pulley. I think with stock gears and some drag radials you should have all the traction you need on the street, even with a blower.

Not with street (non dr) tires.

Assuming you already have lower control arms and relocation brackets, you need better tires. I have KDW2's on my '05, and even with 4.10's, unless I dump the clutch, it's hard to spin them on the street. On the track, is a different story. But they're fantastic for the street. Wet or dry.

Try the Nitto 555R's. I had them on my cobra and loved them. Best all around drag radial imo for daily driving

The one time that I played on the street with my MT ET streets they hooked real well. I even did a 2K dump and they hooked pretty good.

Ah, this is timely for me. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s on all 4 corners with about 8000 miles on them, and they are really a crappy street tire. They just don't drive well in cool weather--must be the compound--and they break loose with little effort. I've heard they are amazing in wet weather, but my car is garaged in foul weather and the winter. So it sounds like KDWs or 555s are the way to go then...next spring.
