How wide should i got for my wheels. I'm not quite sure on what would be too big or too small. I have an 05 gt

i have 18x8.5 on the front and 18x10 on the back with a 295 tire

i had a tire tech tell me that the widest you want to run on a stang is 275 in the front and a 305 in the back. the most common is 255 front and 285 rear.

those are the sizes i'm looking to get for my stang.

ive got 20x9 and 20x10 wheels... now running 255/35/20 and 275/35/20 how wide can i go with the wheels i have???

the guy that told me i could go with a 305 tire in the back said he had installed that wide on a few stangs with 10" wide rims in the back. i was looking at some used 20" rims after my wreck and for a 20x10 in the back, he said the biggest i could go would be a 305/35R20 and with 9"wide in the front he said he would go 255/40R20, but a 265 wouldn't be a problem. it was a friend of a friend so i don't know how well he knows his ****, but he's been a tire tech for 5 years and said he's installed those size tires on about 10 S197 stangs with no problems.

Would those width maximums change with bigger rims, 19" or 20"+?
Or does it not matter how large the rim is?
