Default street drags on Stock wheels

For all you people with experience. Do you think the nitto street drags nt555s will be a waste to put on stock 17 inch wheels? Or should i get some wider wheels.

Depends on the size....
What SIZE drag radial are you thinking about? In general the stock 17" rim can fit a 275/17/45 I believe. I run 11.5 x 17 x 26.5 Mickey ET streets on stock rimas at the track.

Go with the mickeys over nittos for a track tire. the 555s are a good street tire. Mickeys hook so much harder. The 8" sotck wheels work fine for our applications too btw.

Ditto. I would not expect much out of the nitto at the track. If you're going to the track, go like zkiller and get the ET Streets.

ET Street bias ply FTW. I run them at the track (see pic in sig) and they hook like no other.

I was looking at something for the street. The ET Streets alright for plain street driving?

DO NOT RUN DRAG RADIAL OF ANY KIND ON THE STREET. They are a DRAG racing tire... designed around a special purpose. The fact that they call them a Street tire is simply so the DOT will give them a stamp that will allow guys in nice weather to nurse them to and from the track.

In that case, do not buy the bias plys like I have after all. I have them on a spare set of rims for TRACK USE ONLY. If you wanna know just how bad driving with drag tires can get on the street, check out the thread "I wrecked my car! Drag radials FTL!" in the V8 S197 section. Moosestang knows from experience, and he wasn't even on bias plys!
