I need more traction people! Help?
2006 Mustang GT.
Ok I have 18x10 wheels.
Tires are currently BFG KDW's
275/40/18
I am having some pretty good traction issues. I cant take off in 1st above 1500 RPM without the car loosing traction BAD (dangerous bad), and when I floor it right after putting her in 2nd gear I get the same thing.
When I take the TCS off, oh goodness don't get me started.
I don't understand this because I am all stock!
What gets me more is that I don't remember it being this bad withmy 18x8.5 stock wheels and smaller tires.
I lowered my tire pressure as well to 31 and I'm still getting it.
I was wondering if this is common and what I should do to fix this problem.
I thought the BFG's were good for traction.
Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for a tire to drag, but one that will not get me losing traction and control when trying to do a little race here and there.
I was on a road alone a while back ago and just about lost complete control of the car.
(yes it was a road with no traffic whatsoever.)
I am very safe with my car but I do like to see what she can do every once in a while and this traction problem is not allowing
me to do so at all!
Suggestions with brands, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What was the road and tire temp when you were having problems?
If you are running the high performance KDW's they are affected by temperature and the recommendation is not to use them below a certain temp - which if my memory is correct is about 45F.

ya good point by sleeper, i believe when you buy the KDWs they say right there its a summer high performance tire. If its cold your just gonna hop all over the place in the colder temps.

I was sensitive to this issue as it means I am going to have to get two sets of rims and tires, one for the good season, the KDW2'sand another set for winter.

I have the G-Force KDW T/A
Perhaps therein lies my problem.
I'll have to remember that next time I buy tires in that case.
Son of af'in bitch. I don't have the money to buy a new set of tires.
I've had these for a little over a year now.
I'll tell you what... in low temps these things are all OVER the place.
It does'nt have to be snow or ice. Just some cool weather.
I can't believe that my wheel/tire place sold these damn things to me without noticing this.
