You'd be hard-pressed to find an 18" wheel under 28-30 lbs. I found 4, used SVT Cobras (GT500's) in excellent condition on ebay for about $750 including shipping. New, Ford sells them for $450 each and Tirerack sells them for $280 each so there ARE deals out there. But if you're interested in a set of stock 18 x 8.5" fanblades let me know.
more of the same ......blind leading the blind

edgeracing.com - You can find plenty of wheels $250 and under

Enkei and 5Zigen make MANY wheels in 18" diameter in the low 20lb range, some even in the high teens. The Enkei RPF-1 is hard to beat. I like the 5Zigen FN01-c's.

Tires are another story. Unless you have brake clearance issues, you're better off on 17's. If you HAVE to have 18's and are on a shoestring budget, Lakeshore Wheel and Tire (.com) has Cobra R' replicas for $550 a set (in 17 and 18)

there's plenty of lightweight wheels under $500 per wheel... when you said moderately priced, i was thinking under $250 per wheel. unless you mean $500 per wheels including tires. in which case it'll be a bit harder, but just check out Edge Racing, i ordered my 612's from there and they were great. everything got here exactly as they said at the exact time they said.

here's a few i found at tire rack, don't know what kind of style you're going for.

ASA AR1 $160 23.4#
BBS CH $470 23.7#
Enkei LF-10 $189 26#
Enkei LS-5 $189 25.5#
Enkei RZ-5 $184 25#
Gram Lights 57C $219 20.5#
Kazera KZ-A $119 23.8#
Motegi Racing SP10 $189 19#
O.Z. Botticelli $369 22.5#
O.Z. Chrono HT $335 19.5#
SSR Comp-H $359 17.5#
TR Motorsport MT1 $319 19#
WedsSport TC005 $349 18.5#
and if you don't mind going 17" you can pick up some O.Z. Ultraleggera's for $263 and weigh 17.5#

so, as you can see, you have plenty of choices.

I have the Enkei Racing RS+M wheels for the track. They list at 18# for 18x8.5. The offset is off a bit (35mm) but I don't plan on using anything wider than 245 at this point. I weighed them with Yokohama Advan Neova tires I currently have (235/40 18) and they weigh 10# less per wheel and tire than the stock 18 inch bullets.

SSR SP1s

Yeah, I know I'm asking a lot, but that's the point of comparison shopping, right? I guess I would say I would like to be under $400-500 per wheel. Anything much more than that and I wouldn't want to run it on the street; I would buy something expensive for a track-only wheel. I emailed a couple places, FR500s from wheel replicas are around 26-28, which is in the wrong direction. I do like the SSR Comp-H wheels but I'm kind of afraid to put a 6 spoke wheel on this car... I just think it looks so much better with 5 spokes. I like the Euromax 612s a lot too but I would expect them to be heavy.

I asked Steeda back in 2006 and they said the Ultra-Lite Satin wheels (PN: 298-F34-89566SM) weigh 28 lbs and the chrome weigh 29 lbs. They were 18x9.5" with a 45mm offset, per the e-mail.

Hey Red and VT,

I may have more updated info on the Ultra-Lite wheels. If you look closely, Steeda has changed their part numbers (and name) on these, now "Silver" 18x9.5" and 18x10" wheels. I asked them recently (a month or so ago) about weight, and this is what I got:

Here goes the weight you've requested for the wheels listed below.
(part #013-0003-45) 18x9.5 - 24.4 lbs
(part #013-0013-45) 18x10 - 27.85 lbs

Still not light IMO, so the list given here is a better place to look. But then again, the 18x9.5" wheels are currently running $180/wheel, which is pretty good.

Best,
-j

If you're looking for 8" wide, ther are plenty. 9" or wider and the options narrow and get more expensive. I'm running Rota Tarmac 3's in 18x8, and they are ~22.5 lbs. I like them, but I want to run a 9 inch tire &255's, so I'mtrying to find a 17x9 that I like and that ischeap; preferably under $200. I know, not a lot of options.

I keep looking at Pony R 17x9's, partly because of price (under $150/piece), and partly because I like the look.

http://www.ponyr.com/Customers/2434_John/John_2434.htm

They are 5x114.3, and available in 46mm offset.
