Default Goodyear F1 Supercar 255/45/18 review

In coming from the OEM all-season on the 17” machined aluminum wheel, these tires feel noticeably different. I picked up some used 18” x 8.5” Bullitt OEM wheels this winter. The combination is fantastic on the street. I forgot how much better a car can feel with a plus sized wheel and a summer tire. It looks much better too.

Pros
- improved steering response
- improved dry traction
- good wet traction
- they look “meaty”
- value

Cons

- additional road noise
- rougher ride

I am amazed at how they grab every single pebble on the road in the dry and the wet (this could be a negative to some people). It must have something to do with the tire tread design. I’m excited to see how well they hook at the track this summer.

I looked into those (Tire Rack reviews and good 'ol Google) and found mixed opinions. Went with the BFGs instead. Let us know how they work out.

I found some mixed reviews as well. People said they were loud, but that's pretty much any hard core summer tire. People said they were bad in the rain, but I bet they had worn down tread. I had mine in the rain and cold temps. last week here in Chicago No problems at all. I drove through standing water at highway speeds and the tires cut right through.

I have noticed that they take a few miles to warm up properly. If I try to hammer it before they are warmed up, they will spin easily. Then again, I really don't bother with that since I prefer to wait until the engine and trans. are warmed up before I romp on the car.

Im happy with my Supercars so far. Came from the F1 GS D3's previously.
Both suck up every little pebble and toss it into the wheel well. Sticky tire! Its like the drag radials on the road back down the strip to the pits, lol.
For the price they are really a good value.

They are alot more noisy than the GS D3's thats for sure. But thats the least of my concerns for tires on this car.
June 2nd road course day will be the true test.

On good pavement rolling in 1st gear the 285/40's dont spin, and thats a good thing.

I got them at a local Discount Tire, but the matched the Tire Rack on-line price. Any Discount Tire will price match. They want your business. They swapped the sensors for me as well. Cost $35 per wheel to swap the sensors, including recalibration and new bands. My TMPS has not acted up since I have driven at least 500 miles on the new tires. They are considerably louder than stock all seasons, but they are strictly a summer tire. I have never heard of a quiet summer tire. Just the way it goes. The traction reminds me of when I ran Nitto DR's on the street (on my last Mustang GT). Except these handle better in the curves. Once they warm up, it is very tough to spin them unless I completely dump the clutch at high rpms. Excellent tire for the money.

Damn car still wheel hops if I launch hard. Anybody think the Shelby GT 500 LCA's will get rid of the wheel hop? Ford puts them on a 500 hp car after all.
