Default Awesome Opportunity

Hey my friend has a GT500 and he has some R18 305/45's M/T drag Radials. I know they will fit. He thinks I should try and put them on my car and take it to the strip. If I did this I wouldnt launch it-I would either walk off the line or do a low rpm start(might bog?). Any ideas if this will work at all? Will this damage my car (destroy the driveshaft or rear end, transmission)? Will the car drive right with taller tires? Should I adjust anything on the tuner? Thanks a lot. Also ASAP would help as I would like to run tonight after I get back from Ford getting my airbag recall done and front suspension checked out.

I think that not launching with the drag radials would completely negate having them... stickier tires are made so that you can launch harder.

It certainly wouldn't be taking best advantage to just drive away on them.

Competition tires aren't at their best when they're cold, and if you're going to do a burnout to heat them up so they're sticky you might as well launch to make use of the hot grip. There's no getting around the fact that driving at competition levels of intensity represents abusive treatment to your car, particularly at the level of harshness that's a big part of drag racing.

Any idea how many runs are already on those tires? Mostly this is justmy own idle curiosity.

Yea there are like 10 runs or less. As far as launching I know that's the point but I don't wanna do what he did which is blow his driveshaft. If it blew on the GT500 it would prob do the same to me.

Unless you have some mods which arent listed I think your safe using the drag radials to there full extent. He blew his driveshaft because he was putting out way more tq then you will be. Your clutch might take a beating but without a lot more hp you will be fine. As far as tune goes You are not going to daily drive them so the only thing that might be off is you actual speed vs projected speed. Like Norm and Blackbetty say Use them DR's Good luck and Hope you get great numbers Vista brother!

My friend has an 05 mustang gt with just gears intake exhaust and chip. I think he ran around 12.6 at 106. He had the MT drag radials. He calls himself 6 grand a go, because thats how he launched. Revved to 6 grand and just let it go. Stock everything. He probably has had 15-20 runs doing that without a problem... so far...

Would I recommend it? **** no.
