Advice: Eradispeed plus two brakes won't clear bullit 18's
Hi All,
We just learned the hard way that the Baer eradispeed plus two rotor kit won't clear 18" bullits.
The Baer catalogue states '17" or larger wheels' needed for this kit, I had a hard time believing that 14" rotor would fit in 17"s but should fit in 18"s, I've seen people using GT500 brakes on bullits, the problem being the width of the caliper, they solved this thing with a 1" (even less is actually needed) spacer. The stock caliper ain't that wide because the two pistons are on the inside, so we made the mistake on not download and printing the fitting guide that Baer offers in their site to check the wheels first.
This is a nice kit for someone that wants having big brakes on the cheap and I truly believe that if you get this kit along with better pads and SS lines it is the best bang for the buck option for the S197 brakes, when we do the final upgrade on the car I will weight both rotors but I think the are pretty close because the new 14" rotor is a two piece unit and not quite that heavy. It is the same rotor used on the baer 4 piston 14" big brake kit. This kit will look cool and be an overall better option that the stock brake system.
It's a shame it would not fit the stock bullits because having to upgrade the wheels takes away the cheap part on the upgrade.
If you already have bigger wheels (we checked this weekend that CTR's, FR500's and GT500 could clear this brakes) and want a brake upgrade that is not that expensive and looks cool, this is an option for you.

They guys at STEEDA gave me the heads up on the OEM 18" not working with the Baer 14". I ALSOBought the Baer 14" front / rear with Steeda 18 X 9.5 <(275/40/18 front & back). Havent put them on yet but hopefully will this week-end if I'm not too over-worked.

I hate to bring such an old thread back from the dead, but this one has a question I am facing right now.
I'm thinking of doing Baer's+ fronts and read and changing to J&M SS lines, while in there. ~$1,800 with new pads, of course.
The OP stated that he has seen people run Brembo's on 18" bullits using spacers, yet he never mentions if he tried running spacers on the Baer+ kit. Would they fit? I really REALLY love these 18" FRPP bullits and would hate to part with them, even if they are pizza-cutter narrow.
