Tires for factory 18"s on my '07 GT/CS?
I am too stupid to figure out how the search works on this forum so I am going to ask a question that probably comes up all the time. I just picked up a slightly used 2007 GT/CS with the factory polished 18" wheels. What tire size works best on these rims? Will something like a 255/45 18 work on these wheels or am I stuck with the factorysize? What is the width of my factory rims?

I have 255width on my 18x9 deep dish. Stock 18" is 8.5 width with a 235/50 tire. I'd say a 245width is good for all the way around. what kinda tire you lookin for? summer or all-season? price range?

You are looking at between 245's~275's depending on manufacturers. A 255 will fit well, IMO without a lot of bulge on sidewall. If you keep the same overall diameter (in rears, anyway) the speedo will remain accurate. If you go 1/2' or so smaller/larger, you will be off approx. 5 mph at 70.
I recommend PS2's, Nitto 555's or Toyo R888's for meats [8D]

255/45/18 is ideal for the stock 18x8.5 factory rims.
There are plenty of tires to choose from at that size. Weight gain is neglible if the right tire is chosen. You need to decide if you need all season like the stockers, just summer, or just track use.

RE: Tires for factory 18"s on my '
i am in the same conundrum.
i happen to have an extra set of stock 18 x 8.5 bullitt rims.
i want to put some 255/?? 18's on them for a track set of tires for a while,
BUT AM UNSURE WHICH PROFILE TO CHOOSE.
rationale:
I have only done 2 HPDEs so far, and am no where near ready for R compounds.
so i want to stick with a regular compound as i am still breaking in my wings.
i would like the extra 20mm of rubber on teh ground.
last HPDE i was running the stock BFGs KDWS at about 33# cold, and the tread/sidewall SHOULDER looks roughed up a bit,
so i am guessing i needed a bit more pressure in them.
for the BFG KDW, and the goodyear tire i am looking at, the 8.5" rim width is in the middle of the range for the 45 profile series, and the 35 series and 40 series tires are at the bottom of the recommended rim width range.
as these would be for tracking only, i don't really care about diameter at this point.
HOW DOES ONE DECIDE WHICH PROFILE TO CHOOSE IN THIS SITUATION?
45 b/c the website's table says it will fit better, and probably bulge less?
of the shorter tire? hoping the lower profile may offset any bulge?
WHAT OTHER THOUGHTS MUST ONE CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN ASPECT RATION?
