Pads do not dissipate/retain heat... Rotors do.. But may be some pads deal better with high temps friction than others...

Yeah, I thought about that after my post. Was kinda just shooting an arrow there.

To reduce the likely hood of fade, try a CERAMIC pad. Yes they have less coefficient of friction in general, but are less likely to fade. For rotors, a drilled rotor can be helpful in this regard too, but not as much as pad material. I have been able to fade Hawk HPS's in highway stops, but not Ceramics.

I can't explain it, it was the second or third "slow down" from about 110 mph to 65mph. It really took me by suprise, I easily could have gone off the road and wrecked if there was anyone in front of me that day. It gave me a new lack of respect for the braking capabilities of my car. Since then, I changed to DOT 4 fluid too.

GT500 Brembo Brakes FTW but you
need the GT500 rims for them to fit properly.
Otherwise, its brake cooling ducts for you.

IF YOUR CAR HAS LESS THAN 30% OF PAD LEFT MIGHT THINK ABOUT PADS AND ROTORS , CHECK CONDITION OF BRAKE FLUID POSSIBLE FLUSH MIGHT BE NEEDED .

Drilled rotors in the stock size are in no way helpful. You lose surface area in exchange for an ever so small reduction in rotational mass/unsprung weight. The vanes in the rotor do 99% of the cooling.

The GT500 brakes are marketing - not performance. The rotors are extremely heavy and the calipers are second-tier items. If you were to purchase a Brembo kit it would include completely different parts. The calipers are not rebuildable and are of lesser quality. They are simply to attract buyers to the GT500. Obviously there is some performance to be gained, but for the cost you are better off spending a few hundred more on the kit designed for the GT.

Brake cooling ducts are not just for stock brakes. ALL brakes will fade in time. Bigger ones just take longer. ALL race cars have brake ducts on them for a reason.

I have a Brembo rep in my pocket and can have a set for my S197 at cost if I so choose. The cost of 18" race tires keeps me from taking him up on the offer.
