Upper and Lower Control Arm "One Time Use Bolts"
I've seen a lot of the installation instructions for various upper and lower rear control arms say that the bolts are a "one time use." Does anybody know why? Is it because of the rating (~129 ft lbs) that they are torqued to, or is it because they are pre"loc-tighted" with a locking lubricant? If anyone's reused their bolts, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Also along the same lines, are the upper control arm bracket bolts the same "one time use" rating?
Thanks.

F1Fan said that he usually uses them twice and then replaces them if i remember right. so for the install, you should be fine. if you have to take them off again, replace them.

usually they are TTY bolts
"torque to yield" the clamping force is due to the stretch of the bolt. and when loosed the threads can be damaged, and when reassembled they are very tight due to that

I think it is because ford wants the money when the dealership replaces the LCA. 129ft pounds is not going to stretch a grade 5 bolt.

I just installed new LCA's on mine a few days ago and I just used the same bolts. So far, no problems, but I will let you know if my wheel falls off in a day or 2.

I re-use the bolts but always replace the nuts.

If I was going to replace the bolt's, I would go to the local hardware store and get Grade 8 bolt's. They would still be cheaper than buying from Ford.

Before you buy bolts check the size on your UCA or LCA. The stock bolts are 14mm but some aftemarket parts are 9/16".
