best snow tires for 18" wheels?
I live in Illinois where the winters can get brutal and slushy too. I know my best option would be to get a beater for winter, but has anyone run the Blizzak LM-25's and found them to be a good winter tire?
There are lots of choices for 17" but not really for 18". I guess the other option would be to price a cheap 17" set of wheels and try to find a better overall winter tire option. Any input from other ppl with 18's and what they've done? thanks! |
man i am so glad i don't have to worry about this crap... i just run summers all year :)

18" Winter rubber
I had replaced my 18" Fanblades because of "curb rash". Since I had this set of 4 perfectly good 18" rims, I bought a set of Winter Sport 3D Dunlop tires and put them on. I figure this will keep the miles and salt off of my newer Fanblades with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires and give me a safer ride this winter, since I drive my 'Stang all year round.
These Dunlops look like great winter tires. |
Hankook 235/50/18 winter tires on TSW rims got me through last years Winter and boy oh boy was it a bute here in Toronto. These are good for the real cold temps, ice, wet and snow as apposed to just a snow tire. Not sure if they are the best, but they sure got me through it all with a little common sense.

Ran the Hankook 235/50/18's on mine for 2 winters. Did very well.
They are currently listed in the S-197 classifieds. Beater this winter. |
