(27.9-22)/2=2.95'' I think that is how you measure sidewall
285/40ZR18 on the rear. they fit a 9-11" wide rim and have a 27" diameter
(27-18)/2=4.5

That is a side wall difference of 2.95''/Front vs 4.5''/Rear
The difference in overall tire diameters is almost one inch.
So If I lower the front one inch the proper ride height will be maintained or I could lower the front 2 inches and the rear one inch and still be good.( that is If there is no problems when putting 22'' rims on a lowered mustang.
Have you seen this combination of wheels and tires on a car? I just don't think that 22" wheels and 30 series tires on the front are going to give you the "bigs and littles" look that you want.

Hahahahahahah. The only difference in this pic and my idea is that Tire Rack has 22'' rims with this recommended tire size to fit the 05-09 mustang. I don't think those were recommended. hahahah

I know that's a joke because there's no side steps.

No I have not seen this combo on any car.
As far as looks go .That's yet to be seen. But if you think about it I have read that if you plus size your rims it gives the illusion of a lowered car even if its not. And the plan to lower the front of the car one inch . That gives it 1/2 an inch of rake compared to stock. If the illusion effect holds true even with different rim sizes on front and back then the rake will look like it is more than it is.
It would look different that's for sure but I am not convinced It would not look good . I'm not trying to convince everyone that my way is better than theirs . I just like to be different
I may not even go with 22'' on the front I may go with 20'' rims on the front.
That would only be 2 inch difference in rim diameter.
