275/40/18 too wide for street?

+1 I have nitto 555's all around with the 275/40/18 ratio...
No issues, drives better in street use and no more "snow plow" (front sliding) effect while turning hard.
I was also concerned about having issues driving in the rain, but if you get a quality tire it will do excellent in rain and dry. (like the 555's )

The wider front tires will tend to "Tramline" more. Per Wikipedia - "Tramlining is the tendency of a vehicle's wheels to follow the contours in the surface upon which it runs. The term comes from the tendency of a car's wheels to follow the normally recessed rails of street trams, without driver input in the same way that the train does.
Tramlining can usually be blamed on tires, and its incidence depends greatly on the model of tire and its state of wear. Although not normally dangerous, at very high speeds it can become a source of instability."
I notice the tramlining when running my 285/40/18 KDWs in the summer significantly more than when running my 255/45/18s in the winter.

Funny this came up. I am currently considering NT05 in 275/40/18 all around, for street and autoX use. My one concern is tramlining because I drive on TERIBBLE roads everyday, I imagine 3rd world countries have better roads.

I run 275/40-18 BFG KDWs and love the setup. Had them on the car for 16K+ miles with 4 HDPEs on the tires. They still have a little tread but they've been heatcycled so much that they are dry and cracked. I have a new set of tires waiting to go one once I get my wheels refinished.

Ran them on all 4 corners when the car was stock. Had some bolt ons and went to 305/35/18 Nitto DR's in the rear, got a supercharger and now run 305/45/18 Mickeys in the rear. I have been happy at all times, the 27/40/18's have never caused me an issue up front. I am on Steeda Ultralight lowering springs.
