They are probably the OEM bearing. The ARP stud kits are $82.80 (front or rear) from one of the local race teams. However, FRP says they won't fit the stock hub. Not sure if the holes are too small or if the ABS sensor ring gets in the way. Didn't think to ask when I called FRP.
While you are doing research see if you can get some specs on the wheel bearings. Any spec you can get is good and the more the better. I use a lot of bearings in stuff I manufacture and with the right amount of specs I can check with one of the engineers where I get my bearings from and see what is out there that will be more durable/stronger/safer. There is sure to be something, the OEM’s are not exactly known for picking the best stuff. A lot of the bearings that I purchase from them are ceramic hybrid or full ceramic bearings and yes, they are more expensive but the specifications of them are lightyears ahead of a steel/steel bearing in every way. I buy lots of bearings though so I can get pretty good prices on them.
I personally wouldn’t be bummed out about using ceramic bearings in mine. I have been using them for years in my race motors, wheels, etc and they are nothing but amazing in every measurable way.
If those studs are "1/2 in diameter, stock rim and average repro ones won't fit either.
Unless you want to re-drill the holes to size, but then, you'll run into other problems...
Sam Strano has the prototype ARP wheel studs on the Shelby GT he races. I talked to him last year, they are almost a needed upgrade for anyone who does wheel changes on race days every other weekend. I plan on putting the studs in my car very soon but I have way more autocross events on my car then track events, so far. Sleeper with the amount that you track your car, evidence of all the videos of your brother driving it I do not think this would be a bad idea for you.
I've ordered the front hubs and a 4 sets of the through style lug nuts. Should be here in about a week or so.
The pre season work list is getting longer each day.
