Default Need Some Tire Help

Hey guys,

So I picked up a pair of rear tires off of a Viper. My first instinct is that these puppies are WAY too wide to stuff onto my Stang, but thought I would double check. They're 335/35/17 Michelin XGT-Z's, so I'm guessing I would need at least a 17x12 rim. If anyone knows a place to pick up anything that would work, I'd love to use them for some track tires just so I don't go through my street tires. If they won't work, I'll just sell them. It looks like they have over 50% tread left, so selling shouldn't be a problem considering how hard it is to find tires in that size.

Any input would be appreciated!!!

If you check out this project you can see what was needed to put some 345 rubber on an S197. I'd imagine there's not going to be much difference in how much work it takes to mount the 335s. Also, keep in mind if you do mount them, you'll be running a tire that's an inch shorter overall than stock.

I've actually read through that project before, but thanks for mentioning it, I forgot they put that much rubber on the back. I won't be doing any modifications to use these... either a) I'll find some relatively cheap 17" rims that I can mount them on to throw on for the drag strip (so I'm not worried about them sticking out past the fender if it's just by a little bit and the offset doesn't have to be perfect) or b) I will just post them in the classifieds on some Viper and Diablo forums and get some cash. The tires were free, so I'm either looking to have some fun with them or make some money. I'm honestly leaning towards just selling them since I can't seem to find a rim to mount them on that is the correct bolt pattern, much less the right offset, for a remotely reasonable price... so far the best I can find are some viper wheels for $250 a piece that I would have to get adapter plates for in addition to paying to get them mounted; too much money just to burn up a set of free tires IMO.

If you DO manage to put them on, post some pics.

Lol, that's one of the main reasons I'm even bothering trying to mount them up... I really want some pics of my car with some 335's out back... Talk about intimidating, haha.

Ok, I've figured out that I can get some 17x11 ZR1 Replica wheels made to fit an F-Body with a 50mm offset and some adapters to fit the 5x120 bolt pattern to my 5x114.3

All together, the resulting offset should be about right, I just need to see if the actual tire will fit up in the wheel well. To get the 2 rims, adapters, and mounting & balancing, it looks like I'll have to spend just shy of $400... I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it or not. I'll keep you guys posted on what I end up doing.
