Popping Upon Decel = Strut Mounts?
Hey guys, I'm currently running the Saleen Racecraft shocks, struts and springs on my car. They've been on for about 4 months now and have been great thus far. Recently though, when slowing down I've been hearing a little 'pop' sound from the front passenger side right before I completely stop. The sound only pops once, but happens most everytime I stop. Based on some research I've done it sounds like it's probably the stock strut mount failing, which I've read is a weak spot for lowered cars.
I've ordered the GT500 strut mounts as a replacement, as I probably should have done them when I did the suspension in the first place. But I also wanted to get some other thoughts from you all as well. Are there any other things I should look at that could cause the popping sound? I hit a very large pothole late last year, but when doing the suspension in January everything looked perfectly fine. The car had been driven ~4k miles without issue after the massive pothole.
Also, are the GT500 strut mounts a good choice for a daily driver with the occasional backroad blast or trackday? I would like the Steeda mounts, but feel like they might be overkill ($270 vs $65 for GT500 mounts) for a car that does 90% commuting.
Thanks for your feedback...

Sounds like the strut mount. Others will have a more informed opinion.
I can say that I have the Steeda HD strut mounts and had them on for a full year of daily commuting (approx. 15K miles) as well as track day events. Never a problem with them, no complaints (except that I could only get -2 deg camber out of them). Cost, of course, is another issue entirely.
Best,
