Default The Cyclone, The Coyote, and the Wardrobe

I was wondering if anyone has thought about the effects on handling from the weight differences between the Cyclone V6 and the Coyote V8 cars?

From the Motor Trend tests, a base Cyclone with performance package weighs 3464 lbs and the Coyote with premium and Brembo packages weighs 3612 lbs. I'm guessing that at least 100 lbs of the 148 lbs is off the front axle. Is that going to be "felt"? What if the tire is only 265 wide?

I assume the premium package is heavier than a non-premium car. I know seat motors add some weight. Does any know what the difference might be between the cars and where else it may be coming from?

You pretty much nailed it. Engine is a little lighter, not having a power seat, smaller wheels (a little) smaller brakes.

I had a customer weigh his V-6 PP vs. a 300A Brembo car, and I had already weighed my 400A Brembo car... V-6 PP was 3464, 300A Brembo 3550, 400A Brembo 3609 all in stock trim. My car is not lighter since I made some exhaust changes and run it while autoxing with way less than a full tank and have much lighter wheels too. But those things would also apply equally to the other cars.

This link may shed some light on the mass distribution of the interior options, since their weight and placement shouldn't have changed much since 2005.

My question isn't really what everything weighs. My question is, will the weight difference between the a Cyclone car and a Coyote car be noticeable in an autocross, especially given a tire width limit?

I realize that. But if you know the weight and weight distribution of both the Cyclone and Coyote models, you can work backward for an estimate of what the powertrain weight and weight distribution differences are if you know what the differences due to the other stuff amount to.

I would certainly expect the relative performance between the two versions to be somewhat course-specific. A transition-heavy course with no real opportunity to use WOT vs something much more open and higher speed . . .
