Saw a 2012 Boss 302
I saw one at the Toronto Auto Show. They look ... exactly like the 2011 GT with special paint! Don't get me wrong, I know it's a special car with a different tune. And the 285/35 back tires are pretty butch. I couldn't get in, but the seats looked great, they're the most desirable part of the car, imho. I wonder if they're lower than the GT's.
The shocker was the price. The Boss package was listed at $9500. So a list price Boss 302 is $50k in Canada. The Boss should have the measure of an M3 on the track, so that sounds like a bargain to me. (An m3 coupe is about $80k in the great white north.)

I love the Boss 302. One of the more badass factory cars there is, and is worth the money as far as exclusivity and uniqueness. That said, from a pure performance standpoint it wouldn't be that hard to match or beat for the money with a few aftermarket upgrades.

Second look
I took another look today, and noticed that Ford is using 5w-50 oil in the Boss, as opposed to 5w-20 in the 5.0. Why? What have they done to the motor that warrants heavier oil? Maybe they just expect it to be run harder (hotter).
Suspension: Steeda sports, Koni yellows, and Strano adjustable sways should be just as good as the ford parts, if not better, and be more tunable. I get the feeling that FRP suspension is set up very stiff in roll and at the rear, which might make traction hard to manage.
Motor: 450 hp sounds like an electronic tune. The standard 5.0 rocks.
Mark-up: We'll see. At the Auto Show there was a huge crowd around the convertible, while the Boss was ignored just 20' away.

The BOSS 302 has a new, redesigned intake manifold. In fact you can buy it on latemodelrestoration.com. That and the tune gives you the extra 40 hp. And like I said before, it probably wouldn't be too hard to make a regular GT perform just as well on the track. The Boss 302 is desirable for different reasons.

Well as my 2nd official post.. I am in the market for an 11/12 GT or the Boss when I get back. I have been quoted 50k for the boss by Lake Ford in Lake Elsinore and then I was quoted 40,145 with 895 destination. No Im not telling where... Im leaning towards the Boss.. I think the middle of nowhere may have the best deals..
