Mustangs AT Mosport Lapping Event June 13, 2011
June 13 was the annual Mustangs At Mosport event. It is restricted to Ford powered vehicles and is a lapping event with passing only on a wave by.
There were three groups, Novice, Intermediate and Fast and this year I ran in the Fast group. The group was very small, maybe 10 cars, until the afternoon session when the Instructors got to come out and play. The Novice and Intermediate groups were much larger.
The first video - this one with data

My netbook and charger are mounted with industrial strength Velcro on a panel that is held in with bungee cords to the folded rear seat back. I use an inverter plugged into the rear power outlet to keep everything powered up. After coming in off the track it immediately displays my lap times and more information than I even understand.

This one has no data but has cars passing me and occasionally me passing a few.
In the morning sessions there were weren't many cars in our group but then in the afternoon the Instructors came out to play.
At the end of the video the rain starts coming down and that is when I called it quits.

Mosport with only 10 cars...life doesn't get much better than that! It looks like you are doing ~135 on the back straight, what do the really fast cars (not that you aren't but you know what i mean) hit there? On VIR's long back straight I'll hit about 140 in my C5. Last fall a guy in a 700HP stock car blew by me like I was standing still, he had to of been doing 165 or so.

260 kph is about 162 mph. Fast for sure but not 'crazy fast'. How long is that back straight? It looks really long thus the reason I asked. I know some C6Z guys who hit 170 mph on the big straights at Pocono. I can manage about 150 (C5), which is plentyyyyyy fast enough for me

The Mosport Mario Andretti back straight is long but also very much uphill, at least until you get to the hump. The hump has been shaved down as it used to cause vehicles to get airborne. The entry speed is also low because of Moss Corner which is finished in second gear. The fastest I've done is 137 mph/220kph.
Here is an early video of the track before the concrete. The commentator is someone you may recognize.
