to lower or not to lower???
I already posted this in another section of the forum but I think I will get more responses here so here it is..
At first I wanted to lower my car but I see a good bit of people advise not to do this if you carry a bunch of people. Which I tend to taxi :icon_steer: everyone around. SO.. with that being said.. Would lowering it cause an issue with me chauffeuring people around or does it depend on how much it's lowered? If I don't lower it now, I want the option of lowering it later without replacing parts twice (if possible). So what should I add/change in this case. And to give everyone an idea of what outcome I want: I want to be able to drive it daily but still be able to have more fun in the corners. :icon_mrgreen: And I'm willing to sacrifice comfort but I don't want my car to be so tight that it's like it's riding on rocks. Lol. |
it doesnt really matter how many people u have in the car, if i were u i would change the springs,struts/shocks and upper mounts then get it aligned all at once to avoid problems later
|
Well if I carry 3 or 4 people and it's lowered wouldn't it scrub the tires? Or would the springs and struts offset the lower height with the extra stiffness enough to keep it from rubbing when I go over bumps and stuff like that?
|
it shouldnt i have driven lowered cars on springs and bags without problems,,,its only gonna drop your car like 1.5 inches thats not enough to cause problem
|
+1 . I have the eibach pro-kit and have had 4 people in my car with no problems. I think about 1.5 is the lowest to go with passengers, works fine with me. I rarely hit the bump stops from bumps.

Alright. Thanks. That's really good to hear considering I wanted to drop it 1.5 anyway :) I was thinking the FRPP K-springs but wasn't sure how good they were or what struts to use and etc..

That means they are good right? Haha. A good bit of people use the Eibachs from what I can tell so they must be good? But if I replace just the springs for now, I'll have to replace the shocks and struts soon, as they will be taking more abuse, correct?

Gotcha. Yeah if I buy the springs I will probably be too anxious to wait to put them on with the shocks and struts at the same time. Lol. What about upper and lower control arms? Are they gonna need to be replaced about the same time as the shocks/struts?
