Default First impressions: Hurst Billet Plus 2 shifter

Hey Guys,
I just installed the new Hurst shifter for the 2011 Mustang GT.
Here are my first impressions.

Appearance:
I really like the old school look with the high flat bar shift arm and white cue ball ****.

Design:
Very poor design in my honest opinion. Shifter doesn't seem to be solidly
built like a Barton or MGW. The biggest issue I have is with the reverse lock out feature. It doesn't use the "push down" feature, it uses a poorly designed
spring and it is very vague. Most of the time I can't tell if Im in reverse, this
is why they include wiring and a led indicator light to warn you that you are
in reverse. I didn't install this due to I have a back up camera and my Navi
screen turns on when Im in reverse.

Shifting:
Shifting through the gears are wonderfully positive, very precise and firm.
No rubbery feel and the clunkiness seems to have gone, its very smooth.
The throw has definitely gotten shorter, not as short as a Barton but I can
feel the difference. The big difference in shifting probably has alot to do with the Barton bracket. Very solid feel.

Overall :
Looks nice but I would look at a Barton shifter or MGW complete shifter assembly.

Thanks, Dacam. That's a very honest and useful impression.

I'm seriously considering the Steeda shifter, but the shifting is pretty darn good in my car! I wouldn't object to slightly shorter throws and more positive engagement though.

If I were to do it over again, I would wait for the MGW shifter. It seems awesome.
