Default What springs with 20's

I am looking to buy the silver saleen extreme's.... I really have never like 20's but I have been going back and fourth forever on 18's or 20's. Just diggin the look a lot. This will be my DD, it will be blown next year. Working on suspension now... What springs are you guys using with 20's for the best overall ride quality/traction....... How will traction be with a 1" overal drop, will the back squat quick enough to get traction?

If you want appearance buy 20s.

If you want handling buy 18s.

Lol.. That sounds a little too general. But I guess it would be true now that I think about it.. in terms of tire pressure and ride feel. But how does size of the wheel effect handling that much in terms of springs??

20s have three big problems;
1) the total weight of the wheel and tire is higher than 18s and this is all unsprung weight which is the worst kind. This assumes you don't compare a high end forged aluminium 20 against a cheap cast 18.
2) for the same overall tire diameter there is one inch less of tire sidewall to help deal with road irregularities
3) fewer tire choices and the tires are more expensive

I also don't think 20s look very good but that is just my personal preference.

Split the difference and go with 19s

18s Dont have better handling then 20s.... If we're talking about actual handling, on race tracks, with lots of curves 20s will give you better handling because there isnt all that rubber on the sidewalls making the ride crap. Now if you want a softer ride with better traction for straight lines, then yes 18s are what your looking for.

Just think about it this way. When you see Stock car races, in like Le Mans like the corvette team, they all have big rims 20 inch rims. When you see quarter mile races you only see big fat tires.

go with the 18s and when you you go to buy tires look at the price the 20s would have cost and you will never regret buying the 18s.

CDC sells spring and shock setup that is tuned for 20". I use it and it works amazingly well. It is a Ford developed setup includes a rear sway bar and doesn't cost an arm and leg.

Thanks for all the input...... Recently found out the saleen extremes are not on the market in silver. So, doubt I will get 20s, likely going to stick with 18s. Steeda sports, HD strut mounts, and koni's seem the way to go for shock/struts/springs.
