2012 GT Front Suspension Issues

Is anyone else have noise (and possibly more) issues with the front suspension? The sound has gotten worse. It use to only make noise when going over a large bump or dip. Now anytime I hit a bump I hear the LF creak and moan and I can feel it in the pedals. When I take off from a start I hear it and feel it in he pedals. I got my 2012 Kona Blue Mustang about a month ago and this is really ticking me off. I went into a Ford dealership and they claim nothing is broken, just a noisy bushing. I had to drive (move) cross country so I finally have an appt with the local dealer. Just wondering if anyone else is having issues or knows what it could possibly be?

Wow, wow, wow. Same exact noise. Been driving me nuts since May. Man I wish I could figure it out. I don't have the GT. 2011 V6 and I thought it would be useless bringing it to the dealership because of my Koni/Steeda suspension mods. I'm sure they'd just point at those and say they have no idea.

I would love to know if anyone knows which bushing or issue is cause this. I only hear it at low speeds moving forward slowly.

My right front makes a "scrunching" (sometimes a thunk) noise when rolling over speed bumps or dips...took it to the dealer...they determined it was a bad Lower Control Arm...it's on order...Free replacement under warranty...just waiting for the call...you should go to another dealer to have it checked out...

Yeah scrunching and thunking are definitely ways to describe the sound. I drove around today and the noise wasn't as bad as yesterday. I also got it washed and drove more yesterday... So maybe it was the water or the amount of use that made it worse. I have an appt tomorrow, I'll post what they tell me.

What the dealer said

So the dealer said it was a bad bushing on the control arm assembly... They had to order it and I still haven't heard anything back on them receiving the parts.

Makes me glad I upgraded my front lower control arms to GT500 ones with Steeda X5 ball joints right at the start. :)

Norm Peterson 09-21-2011 07:24 PM

Based on this thread, it seems to be more of an '11 and up issue rather than something that you and I would be apt to face. I've never heard that noise with my OE GT arms either.

Hearing front end creaky noises when going over speed bumps as well on my 2012 GT build date, July 2011. Makes the car sound like it's 10 years old. Did not have them when car was new, only started hearing em about two weeks ago, car is 4 weeks old, not a daily driver. Will be bringing it up to dealer when first oil change is due in november.

kustomizm 09-24-2011 07:04 AM

i had the same issue on my 11 gt they put in a new lower control arm and it was gone for a little while. it eventually came back. i entered an autocross event and after that it went away and that was in august and no noise since. its like the suspension needs to break in or something. but the fix is to autocross the cars it seems

Whatever excuse works for you! :)

ancona46 10-24-2011 02:13 PM

my 2010 gt clunks in the front over almost any bump, took it to ford and the jackasses said its because you have an aftermarket exhaust all the sounds resonate to the front of the car when you hit a bump......needless to say the car still clunks and they didn't fix anything..

Ford is the worst with service they will feed you any kind of lie they can to avoid fixing a car, never had a problem with gm or jeep with warranty repairs

went to a diff dealer yesterday who replaced to front right LCA and also pointed out to me that the sway bar link nuts were already changed to the newer style, i guess by the first owner

anyway the front clunk seems to be gone but now i can hear a popping in the rear lol

Norm Peterson 10-29-2011 08:25 AM

Either of those dealerships in the Cherry Hill area?

Norm

eolson 10-29-2011 09:24 AM

In my experience those noises have always been loose connecting, under lubricated, faulty bushing Front sway bar, loose connection or failing end links(real common) or front arm bushings. Erik

ancona46 10-29-2011 09:52 AM

The dealer who wouldn't fix the car is in Woodbury ace ford the one who replaced the LCa is Holman in turnersville, tho I can say winner ford in cherry hill is the worst dealer of any I have ever been too.

ancona46 11-01-2011 12:55 PM

after a few days of driving the noise is back and sounds louder than before now

Mustang Enthusiast 11-20-2011 05:46 PM

I have had my 2012 since August 25th. The car only has 1,300 easy miles on it and already it has a clunking sound on the left front end.

Mustang Enthusiast 11-20-2011 05:53 PM

[QUOTE=Norm Peterson;7729874]Guess you've never owned a Nissan Maxima .

Honda gives you hell to if you take your car in for repair under warranty. Turns out the manufactures of almost all brands warn the dealerships that if they do to much warranty work, they will be penalized. Got this info. from a friend who is a service manager at a Honda dealership.

I read in this forum that there is a TSB from Ford regarding this issue. The front anti-sway bar and the bushings need to be replaced.

mine were already done and it doesnt help

kanderson4300 06-28-2012 03:46 PM

I'm going to try to get to the bottom of this noise. My car started out with just a slight creaking but now is much louder. I have about 2,500 miles on it so far.

99gtstang 06-29-2012 10:45 PM

My 2012

front left clunks BAD over bumps and they told me it was exhaust lol. GOing to take back another time.

Still have my ongoing electrical issues that they cannot determine :(

kanderson4300 07-01-2012 04:39 PM

The local Ford dealer has confirmed that there is an undated lower control arm coming out in August that will have a polyurethane bushing that is supposed to take care of our susension noise. We just have to hold out another month or so.

ryland52586 09-05-2012 08:55 AM

mine is doing the exact same thing, 2012 gt kona blue. only when i go over speed bumps really slow can i hear it, but sure its there. thought it was my springs or something but that does make sense. dealers will fix this for free if they can find it?

ancona46 09-05-2012 09:56 AM

Good luck getting it fixed after 5-6 dealer trips ford refuses to fix my car and says its normal all mustangs make noise. So a lemon lawyer is dealing with them now

13pony 09-12-2012 01:48 PM

Anyone with a '13 have this problem? I want to do at least a "pro kit" to drop it, but don't want any hassles later......be nice to know what's what with my new one! thx, Steve

Do you know if Ford came out with the new lower control arm with the polyurethane bushings this past August?

I think it's terrible for Ford not face up to the problem and rather face a lemon lawyer. I guess it's cheaper for them that way but Ford is making owners angry so which is cheaper?

Not yet

My local dealer is still waiting for the Control Arms to be shipped to the dealer. He has a list of people waiting to receive the new arms.

Front Suspension Issue

Do you think the dealer is being honest about the lower control arm coming out that will have a polyurethane bushing? Or, are they just trying to placate their customers? I'm curious because I have some front suspension issues and would (like everyone else) like to see the problem resolved. Also,my steering wheel has a small but very noticeable amount of vibration when I drive over 60mph. I haven't hit any potholes etc. and alignment seems ok.

kanderson4300 10-26-2012 07:54 AM

Yes I have been talking with the Service Manager not an advisor. I believe him to be telling the truth. Also on the vibration over 60mph you might have just lost a wheel weight and may need to have the front wheels balanced. Just a guess there.
