first track day with the new set up
#11
hey guys so a little update. since we talked about it in this thread i started heel-toeing during everyday driving, using my heel to hit the gas. yesterday i went to a little track event where we were allowed to run a drift course in between rounds for 25 bucks. it was a pretty short course where i ran most of it near the top of 2nd except for the straight. basically a really fast autox course where we could keep lapping. the car performed so so well. these shocks/struts are the best thing since sliced bread lol. also i was able to practice my heel-toe skills coming out of the straight, and i have to say it helped A LOT. thanks to everyone who suggested it and basically told me how to do it, bc it definitely game me the advantage over some of the cars out there who didnt know how to do it and came out of the turn not in their power band

My technique is similar to Argonaut's, but it's a little different. I brake with my big toe on the brake pedal and that places the other side of my shoe over the gas pedal. I just rock my ankle toward the center of the car to blip the throttle. Of course it helps if you have a solid-feeling brake pedal that doesn't have to move very far (racing pads, fresh fluid, stainless lines).
I just got a Subaru STi, BTW, and I find that this approach is incredibly easy with the Subaru.
