Notice @ 2:38... the oversteer, in a MINI.... Try that with an LS7 that's actually driving the rear wheels. Yikes.

Funny, I watch that and it actually looks like fun, with no power and a skinny car. I can't believe all the full throttle (well I can, it is a Mini). Oh well, Bull in a China shop was what it was like in my car.

I am not a stranger to tracks, and have no issue running next to a wall. But when you are tossing a car around and the way things are setup means that mistakes will almost directly put you in a wall, it isn't much fun.

I really wouldn't consider that an autocross. And I think you'll find if they do something like that again, it might have a different name, and maybe be covered under different insurance. I can say this. I'd run a track day there, no problem.... but the way the course was on the banking with a box and a slalom and being forced to drive from banked concrete to flat slick asphalt and back immediately, it was hairy in my car and for the first time ever, I'll admit I didn't run as hard as I could. Not worth balling up my Corvette.
yea when i first saw it i thought it was pretty sketchy too. i also didnt realize you have a vette, just knew about the mustang and camaro lol. which one do you have?

There was a bit of a pucker factor there when it checked up in the slalom, and it actually looks worse in the video than I remember. The MINI was a great car for that event because I wasn't tossing a 3000-some pound car around next to that wall. I loved the event but I agree that there could have been better elements to put on that straight. There's nothing like a cambered slalom to get people all out of sorts.

It's funny; going from the Mustang on street tires to the MINI on r-compounds was a bit like taking the donuts off a baseball bat. Everything comes at you so slowly and you really don't have to worry about the throttle since it's matted 90% of the time. It really lets you focus on steering inputs.

I think Tom O'Gorman said it best (and I paraphrase): That driving an H Stock car is an exercise in having the ***** to not lift and just chuck the car through each element. It's fun in a very different way than the Mustang is.

I sold the Camaro in September. I have a Mustang technically speaking but haven't seen it since 9/29 for warranty work. It will probably be leaving soon after I get it back (which at this rate seems like it won't be until 2012). I bought a C6 Z06 in early October.

http://www.stranoparts.com/videos.php Footage from Sunday in Nashville is up. It's pretty low quality as I was in a hurry. Compare and contrast to the Mini.

Sam, the only words I have for that are "fast foward." Holy cow.
