Strano Performance will be closed 10/27-late 10/30
I'm leaving for an SCCA National @ Nashville Superspeedway (that's right, in Tennessee) with the new autocross car. I'll be gone a few days, but back early next week.
Please feel free to e-mail or call and leave a message with any questions. I will be back later in the day on Monday 10/30 and will return messages and fill orders as quicker as possible upon my return.
Thank you!!!

I was wondering when I would see this post. I'll be making this my first national event, although running an H Stock MINI rather than my car. I'm hoping to get in a few test and tune runs in my car seeing as the course looks rather high speed. Looking forward to seeing what the big time events are like!

And you as well! Here's helmet cam video from the MINI I was driving... it's amazing how much fun can be had with 118 horsepower and slicks!

That car runs to 58 miles per hour in second, and I was on the limiter for a significant amount of time in 3-4 places on each course. On the first day I shifted to third for the last section which helped a little bit, but there's not a whole lot of acceleration left with 118 ponies.
For reference, 12 o'clock on the speedometer is 70 mph. My run times for both days were in the low-80 second area.

The perspective from a faster car was somewhat different. Move from 118hp and FWD to 505hp and RWD, and it was just scary on the banking between the camber changes and changes in surface where you needed to be on the power. I am not a stranger to tracks, and have no issue running next to a wall. But when you are tossing a car around and the way things are setup means that mistakes will almost directly put you in a wall, it isn't much fun.
I really wouldn't consider that an autocross. And I think you'll find if they do something like that again, it might have a different name, and maybe be covered under different insurance. I can say this. I'd run a track day there, no problem.... but the way the course was on the banking with a box and a slalom and being forced to drive from banked concrete to flat slick asphalt and back immediately, it was hairy in my car and for the first time ever, I'll admit I didn't run as hard as I could. Not worth balling up my Corvette.
