NEED HELP WITH STRUT MOUNTS!!
i have a 2007 mustang v6 that has been making a loud clanking noise from the strut mounts on rough roads. i purchased the 2005-2011 Shelby GT500 Strut Mount Upgrade that is available through many online retailers. Unfortunately the box came with no instructions and i need to know which way the notches with the arrows need to go. i bought these to replace my J&M caster adjustable strut mounts that i bought from american muscle. other suspension mods include: BMR K-Member, BMR Front lower control arms, Tokico HD struts and shocks, Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs (2''), GT500 takeoff front and rear sway bars and the aforementioned J&M adjustable strut mounts. thank you for your help

Do you think the GT500 mounts are better quality than the J&M?
The arrows should point to the outside fenders of the vehicle.
I need to upgrade too. When I did my front struts the OEM mounts fell apart and I had to chase ball bearings all over the garage! I'm surprised I haven't had any trouble yet.

Here's a good DIY for swapping front springs that outlines the entire strut mount install.

I've been looking at those as well. Like you I don't want to increase NVH. FRPP seems to do pretty well for increasing suspension performance without adding NVH (or at least not as much) for a DD. Granted they may not perform as well as the top-of-the-line aftermarket but it's a good compromise IMO.

So how are the GT500 Strut Mounts working out for you?

I also have some Billet screw-on strut covers for shows. If I leave them on the top of the strut while driving on the sucky roads around here, the same old NVH comes back. Easily rectified ( I only put them on once parked) but it shows that the solid connection from the strut to the body is what exacerbates NVH.
