Sidewall cracking Zero Nero's

Ok guys, I took "Luckystang" to see my mechanic Bruce for new Pony
evaluation. He said I got a great car, referring to the stock chin spoiler
that is unblemished. Then he saw cracks around the sidewalls of the
Pirelli 235/55/17's and said, Keep her under 80 mph till I replace them.
The car's tires have 30,000 miles but still have good tread depth. I
want to continue to drive the car another 3,000 miles, what do you guys
think? Thanks in advance,Alan

Cracking really is a safety issue, and if they already have 30k on them the tires should probably be replaced, but that is at the discretion of you and your mechanic. Personally I'd go out and replace all four tires, and until then follow the mechanic's advise and keep from going high speeds. Cracking can be from a variety of things and without knowing how it ended up cracked, how severe it is, or anything else, I can't really give you much more advise. All I can say is "Better safe than sorry"

I put the P-zeros back on mine when it needed tires. I'd suggest finding something else (better) when you go to replace them.
I hear all kinds of good things about Nitto's.

Don't mess with safety. Find a way to replace them ASAP. Murphy's law states that the tires will blow at the least convenient time and place. if you do drive on them, at least make sure your spare is good and properly inflated for when they do give way, and the "keep it below 80" thing is so you can recover and not have an accident when they do blow, not to keep them from blowing.

Ok guys, thanks for the reply's and I'll look for some 245/55/17's to replace the rear two first, I gotta go two at a time as my funds are short.

I've been looking at the Nitto 555's 245/55/17's $141.00 Discount tire store, can you beat
that price?
