2008 GT 135,000 miles. Had since new and this vehicle is driven all highway miles and is not abused. Rotating the tires and noticed the driver rear caliper, backing plate, rotor and inside of the rim covered in tacky black residue. There was a drip building up by the speed sensor ring and appears to be coming from the seal area. Is this common?

Um yea.
The rear end is filled for 100,000 miles use.
Get is serviced as soon as possible.

And only use quality seals.

I have vehicles that NEVER had rearend service (not saying that's a good thing) and never developed seal leaks. So whats your point? I'm asking if there were issues with seals on these vehicles.

Yes, big issues after lets say, 100,000 miles or so.
No seal is good beyond that.
