New struts/shocks vs New springs
#11
I am wondering what would be better at getting rid of the insane amount of brake dive my 2012 has new struts/shocks or new springs? I already have a strano performance sway bar kit and I don't really want to lower the car a lot because of how bad the roads are around here. I'm leaning toward struts because most of the springs could be too stiff and they lower the car too much.

I don't know about brake dive, I just want my front end to not sound like it is hitting bottom (clunk) and then sounding like the entire front end is rattling. I got my new struts and shocks delivered last night, I'm out to go put them on. It's raining and my garage is full of 66 Fastback, 03 Harley, and 76 Corvette so I guess I'll be out in the rain, lol. I don't care, when my 76 Corvette takes bumps smoother and without clunks, time to take drastic measures! I didn't get end links, I am going to look at them hard, might see if a local parts store would have them. Wish me luck, I'll post results...

You can buy struts which already have the spring installed on them and it's just a matter of installing. SUPER easy, no spring compressor needed. Just the bolts at the top strut towers, undo the sway bar end links, and 2 big bolts at the bottom. Then the strut assembly pops out, put the new pre-assembled struts in, reassemble and boom, no more nose dive.
Rear shocks couldn't be easier.

I installed these on my 06 GT:
It was easy to install both, and yes, the rear shocks on a convertible are easy to get to. On the rear shocks, I'd recommend this:
I didn't have one, and the first one I kinda stripped out a bit with some vise grips until I figured it out (you usually do on the first one!). They may not be the best performance struts but this is my driver and I was looking to rid the car of a thump in the front end. I had done the tie rod ends, etc but the struts on the car looked good so I didn't replace them. Well, I replaced them and could not be happier. Hope this helps.
