Rear brake rotor making noise

Rear brake rotor making noise
My daughter has an 06 Mustang V6 and I noticed every time she makes a left turn the driver side rear brake area makes a noise like the brake pad wear indicator is scratching the rotor. It only does it when I am turning left.
I looked at the rotor and the very outer edge is getting chewed up and something is chewing into the rotor. It is getting chewed up from the outer edge of the rotor in for about 1/4 of an inch. The brake pads still look like they have a 1/4 inch of pad left.
I am not that familiar with my daughters mustang. Does this mean it needs new pads? Any suggestions.
Thanks for the help
Greg

id pull the wheel off and brake pads off on both sides and inspect them for some reason my rear driver side outer pad was very worn almost to the metal not sure if caliper got stuck cause the rest were fine
