What's a good brake option?
Need some real input on possible front brake options.
Option 1:
Stock '06 GT brakes, 12.4 inches - upgrade rotors, pads, lines, ducting, fluid
Option 2:
Upgrade to '13 GT brakes, 13.2 inches - how feasible is this? A simple bracket, caliper, rotor swap? What size wheels are needed?
Option 3:
Upgrade to '07-09 GT500 brembos
Option 4:
Upgrade to '13 GT brembos
How would you rank these options from a performance standpoint in a road course setting?
I'm looking for consistency, minimal brake fade, and bang for the buck. I still have the stock 17in wheels and need to know if the upgrade options require a move to an 18in wheel or even 19in wheel.
Hopefully the track junkies are looking and can provide some input.

I just received the 2011-2013 13.2 inch rotors for my 08. I have yet to put them on.
In my research any rotor size upgrade will require larger wheels than 17. the 13.2 will require 18inch wheels, and im fairly certain that the 14inch brembos will require 19inch wheels (with the lower profile caliper you might be able to get away with 18, some one will have to chime in there).
also from much of my reading, if you were to do the 13.2inch rotors (which also require the bracket) new pads, and high temp fluid, that would be a pretty mean/bang for buck setup. also, adding some cooling ducts would help quite a bit.
here is a link to the kit i ordered from roushes ebay site. I didnt need the calipers, but they're included anyway. if your car has some miles might help to swap them out too.

The brembos are 14".
12.4 for the 2005-2009 S197
then they went to 13.2 for the 2012 year model
(half way inbetween the 12.4" GT brakes and the newest 14" Brembo offerings)

Yes, the search function works well...

I'd go with the 14" Brembos, but you'll need 18" GT500 wheels at least. A lot of us are running those brakes in the 18s. They are available from FRPP for $200 ish, or you can easily find a used set.
Pads are very important. I like Carbotech, and they make pads for just about every Mustang caliper. Their XP series is a bit noisy, but it's a fair trade for the performance. FWIW, I don't like Hawk HP+.

IIRC, the reason that you need the GT500 18" wheels is for caliper clearance to the spokes.
Not because the clearance to the inside of the GT500 wheel "barrels" is different from that of other 18" wheels or because of a particular offset.
Not all 18" wheels have the proper spoke clearance - shop carefully if you choose different wheels. Some wheels note that they will fit and others may not.

I've had these for almost a year with about 15k and no issues so far! They are amazing for the price even stop better than stock.
