Default Tire decision difficulties

Hey guys,
I am not so concerned about the brand but the size of the tires. I know that I will be going squared with the tires but cannot decide if I should keep the stock 235-50-18 size tires or step up to 255-40-18. Right now I have SR lowering springs in and the stock tire/wheel combo fits the well really nice. However I really want some wider tires for looks and hopefully improved traction. My question is, am I better off just putting on some really good stock tire size or try out the bigger tires and hope everything looks good and rides well? I am so torn. Prices are not that different in tire size. Thanks.

255/45/18 should do the trick. I have them on my fronts and they work and look great.
