V6, 2005-2009 as track car / Ford Racing bullitt package?
I originally was thinking of getting a 2005-09 GT. Money is tight right now. What about a 2005-09 v6 with Strano Package 1 handling pack, tokico and springs. Anybody here track these cars, what class do they compete with, with what cars? I hear that the v6 is better balanced than the gt but less power. Is it better handling? What do I need to do to her to get her to carve corners? Too bad that Ford racing does not offer Tokico / Ford Racing package for the above cars, only 99-04. Should I put something comparable for the above car? Ger.

Check with SCCA and specifically look under T3 (Touring Class). There are class rules for allowable modifications. Club racing requires membership and a license. There are regional and national class competitions. There is a description of competitive cars that are categorized by class. Discussion of reorganization is a recent hot topic as there must be a minimum number of car entries per class.
HPDE track days are typically open road course track days and some have autocross options. This organization requires no membership or licensing, just a track day fee and insurance. Most insurance companies no longer cover HPDE track days.
Canyon carving has no requirements. Just obey traffic laws and invest in handling packages and modifications to you're hearts content.
There are many V6 Mustangs at my local Northern California tracks. They keep up just fine on course with the exception of high speed, high horsepower tracks. Search Shelby Terlingua Mustang for a reference standard in which to create a model for modifications.
