Clarification on STR.T's
I was ready to buy a set but I have a quick question. I read on the forums that these struts lower the car. I read anywhere from 1/4" to about 3/4"? I have lowering springs that lower the car 1.5" and the front tire set up I have will lower the car 0.3" already. I don't want to lower the front end anymore than that to avoid more clearance issues. Do these struts really lower the car more? Is there a difference between the 05-10 and 11-14 STR.T struts? Thanks.

Struts don't lower a car, only springs effect ride height.

On my 2010 the STR.Ts *did* lower the car another 1/4th I want to say because they were actually shorter than the stock struts. Kelly from BMR even measured them if memory serves.

The new STR's are a direct fit the old ones require GT strut mounts.

OP, I have the SRT.Ts, but I installed them and springs at the same time, so I cannot comment on if the strut affected the ride height. |
I guess if you just put in strut replacements then the mounting locations should be close enough that it wouldn't effect ride height. If aftermarket struts change the mounting locations then yes it would.l but I can't imagine a company would change that since a whole variety of springs could be installed with the strut, ranging from factory to whatever aftermarket.
I still stand by if you ONLY change the struts and use the springs that were already on the old struts, ride height change should be minute if at all. |
